Tiny hanging alarm clock, only 5 inches by 7 inches by 2 inches, believed Austrian, late 18th-19th century, with alarmwork, original verge pendulum in front of the dial, known as a 'Kuhschwanz' or cowtail pendulum.

Very fine lantern clock made about 1690 by a scarce maker, John Michell of Chardstock (formerly in Dorset county but now in Somerset), signed 'J. Michell Chardstock fec', originally verge pendulum converted later to anchor escapement, was probably untouched in two centuries, now cleaned by us, very rare type with matted centre, pictured after restoration. French style bracket clock in walnut, late 19th century, German movement by Lenzkirk

Traditional hour-striking lantern clock with verge pendulum made about 1710 signed 'Markwick Markham London' the partnership of James Markwick (b.1662- d.1730) and his son-in-law, Robert Markham (b.c.1680-d.1741). This is a Turkish market clock, which is exceptionally unusual in this traditional shape. Original alarmwork inside backplate - see article.

A fine lantern clock, the only one so far documented by Benjamin Wolverston of London, dating from the 1650s-60s, originally balance wheel and converted anciently to anchor escapement. The maker was working from 1656 and in not recorded after 1668. Superb engraving.
