Very rare lantern clock by the celebrated Peter Stretch, made in Leek, Staffordshire, England, in the late 1690s, before he emigrated to America in 1702 to become the most famous clockmaker in Philadelphia. Original anchor escapement. One of only two so far known. No example of a lantern clock is known made by him in America. SOLD
